De Beers Group has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to support the Process Plant Maintenance and Reliability team at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. The incumbent is responsible for supporting the maintenance of Gahcho Kué's Process Plant equipment by employing the use of Condition Monitoring Analysis in improving equipment reliability performance by providing predictive techniques to the maintenance department to eliminate or mitigate the effects of equipment failure and at the same time preserving the functionality of the equipment in a cost effective manner while ensuring that all safety, environmental, and legal requirements are met. This position will also require the employee to fulfil aspects of the millwright artisan role, and from time to time may be called upon to work in that capacity. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe work practices and strives for zero harm.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead and Maintain condition monitoring programs and technologies, including, but not limited to: Thermography, Vibration, Ultrasound and Lubrication Analysis
  • Perform Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis, Oil Filtration, Thermography, NDT Testing, failure investigation, and Root Cause Analysis;
  • Work closely with Reliability Engineers and Planners to develop the maintenance strategies and procedures to enhance the maintenance cycle of plant equipment;
  • Deliver advice and recommendations for evaluating equipment performance to support troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance activities to contribute to safe, reliable production.
  • Continuous development and implementation of condition monitoring programs with a focus on rotating, and fixed equipment to support operational plans;
  • Lead the transition from manual data collection (vibration, ultrasound, etc.) to online monitoring across critical equipment;
  • Develop and implement systems to minimize job task time and streamline the Con-Mon application on components;
  • Investigate, support, or lead special condition monitoring projects while working closely with the Reliability team and vendors to optimize and develop programs in line with department targets and goals;
  • Work with all teams to conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans prior to the initiation of work;
  • Interact daily with plant personnel including Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering and establish good working relationships through the sharing of information, knowledge and experience to identify and resolve machinery issues;
  • Monitor, analyze, report and take corrective action relating to accident/incident statistics;
  • Identify maintenance activities' downfalls, and equipment downtime and breakdowns causes to implement improvement plans;
  • Be involved in regular audits of condition monitoring programs to ensure that quality is maintained, ensuring that all programs are designed to safely operate without impact to employees, the business, and the environment;
  • Synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations for Maintenance Planners.

Reporting to the Reliability Superintendent - Fixed Plant, the role is part of the Process Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability team within the Engineering and Site Services department. This is a site-based position with a 2-weeks on/2-weeks off rotation.

Qualifications

  • Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Millwright Certification;
  • Vibration ISO CAT II, Machine Lubrication Analyst (MLA 1 or 2);
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in condition monitoring and maintenance techniques, preferably in mining, or similar industrial environment;
  • Skilled in general millwright tasks and troubleshooting equipment availability problems;
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management, organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;
  • Basic computer literacy and ability learn new computer skills; and
  • Previous experience with SAP and Fluke (Pruftechnik) Vibration Tools is an asset.
